Weed killer

Every year we get lots of weeds in all the cracks of our sidewalk that runs next to the foundation on one side of our house. I’ve used bribery (kids pulling them) I’ve used chemicals, sweat equity, and I’ve even tried ignoring them.

safe for my 3 year old to use

Bribery usually results in a short lived help, and roots not pulled out – so they come back quickly. Chemicals I’m not excited about w kids and a dog around. Sweating – I can think of better ways. And ignoring doesn’t really solve the problem, and I don’t want them to totally ruin my house.

So, I was on the hunt for a natural method of some sort. After several minutes of Pinterest research I found several similar recipes that all promise great results. Two ingredients were present in them all – vinegar and salt. Both things I had on hand. Continue reading

B-day Cakes

I’ve recently decided I enjoy the challenge of attempting to make a birthday cake for my kiddo that resembles his request. With #2 about to have her 1st birthday I find it only appropriate to do the same for her. Granted she is a bit young to put in a request other than “bob” – currently her favorite noise to udder – or pffffftttttt blah da yapa do – not sure how to make that into a cake. So I get to choose. Given her B-day is the day after Valentine’s Day, I’m tempted to include hearts in some way, but possibly not the primary focus as she should get her own day too.

So I went to the internet in search of ideas, and what did I find???!! THE BEST WEBSITE EVER! Continue reading

Found this article interesting and helpful as I gear up with Sage for the back to school season.

Lunch is Fun for Everyone

Less than a month away from the re-start of school for my son. We are doing the typical acquiring of supplies, and brushing up on some skills to get ready for the school year.

I’ve also been thinking a bit about school lunches. Sage prefers to take his lunch to school, but I find myself at times getting into a rut of what to pack that’s both nutritious and not the same ol same ol. Continue reading

I’ll have to try this

Chewing gum while peeling onions will keep you from crying.

Diaper Craft??

I am so appreciative to the wonderful ladies who take such great care of our daughter during the day I’m always keeping an eye out for ways I can thank them. OK I’m not 100% sure this really qualifies as a craft, but I’m counting it as one. Continue reading

Car Seat Straps

I think I’ve realized why 5 point harnesses are so popular for car seats. Besides the obvious safety features, the straps are also in just the right spot to catch Brie’s spit up. For some reason she often has her head to the right so when she spits up it goes right down the straps with little getting on her.

BTW to get the spit-up smell out: mix baking soda with water to make a paste – smear it on the straps and let sit for a couple of minutes – rinse.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow

Love this idea from Parents.com called “Snow Graffiti”. It’s simple, fun, and encourages creativity while getting the kiddos outside. I think I even have all the stuff to do this with at home. You’ll probably want to pick a day where the temperatures allow for being outside for a while, and of course there MUST be some snow on the ground.  Continue reading

12 Brilliant Ways to Stop Wasting Time

I love it when I get helpful stuff in my e-mail box! Take a look at this link of 12 ideas to help become even better at this whole keeping a house together stuff. OK some of these ideas may or may not work for you (for me #3,8), but most are pretty simple and don’t appear to take much to implement them. I may have to add a couple to my repertoire. I currently do #5, 6, a modified version of 10, and 12 (when Sage was little anyway). I’m thinking #9 is my next addition. What ones will you add?
